A Letter from the President
We owe a great deal of gratitude to our members and many Charlestown friends. We want to thank all our members as well as the local community for helping us get to where we are today! New members are added when YOU talk about us to friends, neighbors, community newcomers and moms to be you spot around town! In 2008 alone, the Charlestown Mothers Association added 107 first time moms and now proudly represents a community of more than 850 families!
| As we move through 2009, we wish to share some highlights from last year. |

Scholarships continue to be our largest community contribution at an annual expense of $5,000. We offer two scholarships at $2,500 and $1,000 plus several gift cards to runners up. We also sponsor two camp scholarships to send local children to overnight camp.

We support a number of local community organizations including Mission Safe, the Boys & Girls Club, the Charlestown Working Theater, The Charlestown Lacrosse and Learning Center, Harvest on the Vine, Charlestown against Drugs, Special Townies, the Battle of Bunker Hill Parade, the Bryan McGonagle Tournament and the Cooperative Nursery School. |

In addition to sponsoring a team for Charlestown Little League we also made donations to local athletic programs for lacrosse, soccer, hockey, football and cheerleading. |

We introduced several new community events this year. In June, we hosted Touch a Truck Day at Bunker Hill Community College , a fantastic event which welcomed more than 2,000 attendees from throughout the city. This September, we will host our second Meet the Schools Fair which welcomes representatives from more than 40 local public and private schools from preschool to high school. |

And, finally, we have a new and improved website www.charlestownmothersassocation.org. This site has become the gateway to our organization, a key source for community information with an active bulletin board where members actively share information, referrals and advice. |
We want to thank our Board members who work tirelessly to represent CMA, bring our events to the community and above all, who share our passion and goal to make Charlestown the best place to live and raise a family; Nora Blake (Secretary), Laura Carroll, Gina Consylman (Treasurer), Kristen Flores, Adrienne Groff, Becky McLauglin, Jane Reitz, Tara Savitz and Tracy Shea. In addition, we want to thank our the following CMA Council Members who took on major responsibility this year; Cara Corbett, Debbie Evans, Jennifer Fukuda, Allison Goddfrey, Abby Gray, Tracey Lavin, Valerie Lohse, Rebecca Love, Virginia Mansfield, Sarah Newlin, Lindy Williamson, Melissa McGaughey and Leslie Sullivan.
