A Letter from the President
As the Charlestown community evolves, so does the Charlestown Mothers Association. The best measure of Charlestown’s growth as a community for families is the dramatic growth in our membership. We now have 866 members, with 1,254 children, with an average age of 5 years old. Forty-five babies and counting are due within the next 6 months and CMA averages 12 new babies a month! We are busy too - 556 members have 1 child, 233 have 2 children, 70 have 3 and there are 5 families with 4 or more!

Our objective as an organization is to use our funds to support activities and organizations which will contribute to the vibrancy of our community. Due to the generosity of our members and the local business community, each year we are able to do more for the families of Charlestown.

•

We host multiple family events throughout the year including: the city’s best Halloween celebration, Touch a Truck, various holiday events, a spring egg hunt, a Patriots Day celebration and a summer family picnic.

• We want your children to have a broad mix of athletic and arts programs! This year we supported Little League, Rookie League, Youth Football and Cheerleading, Townies Football, Girls Softball, Gym Hockey, Charlestown Lacrosse and Learning Center, the Bunker Hill Parade, the Boys & Girls Club, Harvest on the Vine, CHAD, Anthony’s Dream, Special Townies and Recovery Outreach. We also kept the parks fresh with new toys at the Union Street, Navy Yard and Dougherty Playgrounds.
• We bring moms and families together through the monthly Moms Night Out, a monthly new Moms Breakfast, targeted speakers events and our active website. Our website averages 830 unique visitors a month with our top 5 landing pages averaging 6,650 monthly page views.
• Finally, we support our local community and all its children. We awarded $4,750 in college scholarships and rewards to 4 impressive Charlestown women, and $1,600 to send 7 children to summer camp at Agassiz Village in Maine.

Thank you to all the CMA members who supported us during our fall 2010 fundraising drive. With the funds raised, we can continue to offer college and camp scholarships, continue hosting our signature events and support activities and organizations which contribute to the vibrancy of our community A special thank you to everyone who participated by volunteering their time, making a contribution, donating to our live or silent auctions, or donating an item to our beautiful block baskets We are grateful to all our community partners and local businesses who continue to generously support us.

Our well attended gala on October 23rd at Max & Dylan’s included over 200 CMA member guests, as well as Governor Deval Patrick’s wife, Diane, Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray, State Representative Eugene O’Flaherty, State Senator Sal DiDomenico, City Councilors John Connolly, Sal LaMattina and Ayanna Pressley, and candidate for State Auditor, Suzanne Bump. Many thanks as well to our celebrity comedian and live auctioneer, Tony V, and to Karson Tager, Mix 104.1 DJ, who had many of you up and dancing!
