CMA Holiday Dinner Drive
Dear CMA members,
As we close the year, we want to wish all our members a wonderful holiday season and hope the new year brings good fortune, health and happiness to all. We realize this has been an extraordinary year for so many of you, and we appreciate all that you have done to make CMA successful and to help CMA grow in 2008.
Unfortunately, we continue to hear from many in the Charlestown community that the number of hungry and struggling families in our neighborhood is at unprecedented levels. We therefore want to ask our members to give just one more time in 2008. Following our incredibly successful Thanksgiving dinner drive, CMA has partnered with several local non-profits and businesses to provide a holiday meal for as many families as possible. We are asking CMA members to make a $25 donation to our local food pantry, the Harvest on the Vine, in order to provide holiday meals for Charlestown families in need. We realize that the demands are many at this time of year, but hope you can continue to support our local food pantry in this initiative.
In order to make donating convenient for everyone, CMA has several locations where you can drop off your check for Harvest on the Vine:
Olivia Browning, at 20 City Square
Susan and Mike Charbonnier, at 407 Main Street
Susan Frigoletto and Dana Pratt, at 41 Union Street
Zume’s, at 223 Main Street
In addition, to help support this holiday dinner drive, Zume's will donate $1 for every gingerbread latte purchased between now and December 25th.
Finally, we hope you enjoy the festivities CMA and our partners have coordinated to celebrate the holiday season. We look forward to seeing you at the City Square Park Tree lighting this Saturday, December 13, at 4 p.m. and at CMA’s annual holiday party on Sunday, December 21, from 204 p.m. at the skating rink. At the holiday party, we will also be collecting unwrapped toys for the Kennedy Center.
Thank you in advance for your generosity toward our community all year long.
Co-Presidents Leigh Hurd and Susan Frigoletto
Board Members: Nora Blake, Laura Carroll, Gina Consylman, Debbie Evans, Kristen Flores, Allison Godfrey, Adrienne Groff, Becky McLaughlin, Tara Savitz, and Tracy Shea

We need your help to make this event a success! Please help us by either putting up decorations, monitoring a craft table for a block of time during the event or for a quick clean up at the end. CHARLESTOWN'S HARVEST ON THE VINE FOOD PANTRY
Thanksgiving Food Drive
CMA is working with Charlestown’s Harvest on the Vine food pantry to provide Thanksgiving dinners to over 250 needy families in our neighborhood. A $35 donation will pay for a family’s Thanksgiving dinner, including a turkey, 5 lbs. of potatoes, green beans, carrots, apple cider, stuffing, cranberry sauce, brown and serve rolls, and an apple pie. Any size donation is appreciated. Harvest on the Vine will accept donations up until the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. To donate, please make your check payable to “Harvest on the Vine,” and drop if off (through mail slot) or mail it to CMA member Cheryl Bliss Waxman at 50 High Street, Charlestown, MA 02129.
If anyone would like to help bag up the dinners, please come to the food pantry on Tuesday, November 25, from 2-4 p.m. (It is located on Vine Street, just off Bunker Hill Street, at St. Catherine's School Hall.) Any questions, call the food pantry director, Tom MacDonald, at 617-242-5179 or email him at tmacdonald03@yahoo.com. Harvest on the Vine is extremely thankful for our support. Let's make it a great holiday for all! |
