National Night Out 2010
Tuesday, August 3, 5-8 p.m.
On National Night Out, the Boston Police Department District A-1 invites you to Doherty Playground. Activities include: Face painting, balloon twisting, pony rides, music, cookout, popcorn, ice cream, and an outdoor movie “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”, shown at dusk. Bring your “movie night” chairs.
This event is being held in partnership with CHAD - Charlestown Against Drugs, BCYF Charlestown Community Center, and Friendly’s.
 
 
Artists in Residence Craft Workshops
Fridays in July and August
Artists in Residence Craft Workshops for kids will be held from 9 a.m. - noon at the John Harvard Mall in Charlestown on the following Fridays: July 30, August 6 and 13. All materials will be provided. All children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call the Boston Parks & Recreation Dept. at 617-961-3051.
 
 
Boston R.O.C.K.S Out for Kids
Weekdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Boston R.O.C.K.S Out for Kids will be held at the Clougherty Pool (at Doherty Park, top of Bunker Hill Street) weekdays through August 20, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This program of arts, crafts, and sports, provided by the Boston Center for Youth and Families, will feature, fun, free drop-in activities for youth ages 8-18. CitiBank Summer Concert Series

CitiBank and the Friends of City Square Park's third summer concert will be on Wednesday, August 18, when Dirty Water (Southern music) will perform. End of Summer Luau Dance

Sat., August 21 - 6-9 p.m.
Charlestown Girl Scout Troop 71320 invites all 5 to 12-year-old boys and girls to attend their 2nd Annual End of Summer Luau Dance. It will be held at the Knights of Columbus Lower Hall on Saturday, August 21st from 6pm to 9pm. There is no admission charge.

Children will enjoy a great night of dancing to music by DJ Kevin Cain along with Hawaiian style refreshments, Poi Eating Contests, Tattoos, Body Art, great give-aways and much more!

The Girl Scout Troop will be accepting donations of Boxed Cereal to be donated to the Harvest on Vine food pantry during this event.

Massage in School Program Instructor Training 2010




Sept 25 & 26, 9am-5pm
Strengthening Parent-Child Bonds and Children's Peer Relationships: This workshop trains participants in the Massage in School Program (MISP), a highly successful and professional program teaching safe/positive touch and healthy personal boundaries to children and parents. This qualification is an excellent opportunity for professionals working with children to expand their range of client-centered services to schools, day care centers, hospital pediatrics departments, parents and parenting organizations. Open to licensed massage therapists, schools counselors, child psychologists, teachers, school nurses, and other professionals working with children.

MISP was founded by Sylvie Heti and Mia Elmsater, trainers with the International Association of Infant Massage, as a result of their passion to ensure that children worldwide experience positive, nurturing touch every day.
